Artist Brief - Croft School

Requirement

We are looking for an experienced artist to work with 4 classes of Year 3 & Year 4 groups from Croft Primary School in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. You will work with pupils and teachers to explore themes of bicycles, wheels and keeping active and to produce artworks that can be displayed, performed or exhibited outdoors at different events.

School sports day

There are a number of school sports day for different key stages. You should aim to have work completed for exhibition at a school sports day at the end of June. You may wish to consider the values of the school games as inspiration in your work; Passion, Teamwork ,Determination, Honesty, Self-belief, Respect.

Active Ashfield Games Day

First Art will include the work produced, possibly as part of a procession, as part of Active Ashfield Games Day, Saturday 8th July, Sutton Lawn Pleasure Grounds, Sutton-in-Ashfield. The work you produce with the school should be lightweight, durable and British weather resistant!

You will be working in school time and have support from teaching and support staff. Croft Primary School is keen for an artist to support the development of drawing and design skills as an outcome of this project.

You must be available on Wednesdays and Thursdays to deliver this project. A total of 6 day long sessions of in school delivery is required. A further 2 days of planning and/or off site making is available Expected start date will be 10th May

You should be live or work within easy travelling distance of Sutton-in-Ashfield and we particularly encourage artists from the local area to express an interest.

Please note that it is school policy to undertake DBS check, and the school will contact the successfully commissioned artist. It is desirable, but not essential, that you have an existing DBS certificate.

Fee

A fee of up to £250 per day is available and includes all materials, travel and VAT if applicable. A maximum fee of £1750 is available.
